City of Fairfield

Fairfield is home to approximately 96,000 residents and has been the seat of county government since 1858. It is strategically located along major transportation routes Interstate 80 and 680 and State Route 12, midway between the San Francisco bay area and the state capitol at Sacramento.

Fairfield has the highest level of retail sales in the county. It is expanding the retail development near Solano Mall; the county's only regional, indoor, retail shopping center. It is also home to Travis Air Force base, located in Northeast Fairfield. With a total of approx. 16,000 employees Travis Air Force Base is the largest employer in the City, and Solano County as well. Fairfield's charming sister community, Suisun City, is located just south of town.

Fairfield enjoys a combination of flat and hilly terrains, several large parks, and a thriving downtown that offers a blend of older and newer buildings, restaurants and retail stores. A large cultural center also graces the downtown.
